Also, all the ingredients are apparently from the U.S.A, so no worries about melamine (the two recent melamine scares were from Chinese wheat gluten and Chinese milk powder). We're on our 3rd bag now - my girl thrives on it, and likes it.
Newman brands are high quality, and I can get it delivered on a periodic basis and a fixed price thru Amazon. Ginger likes it and it keeps her healthy. So Funny! She is the "queen" and she knows it! We have been using Newman's organic dry dog food for over 5 years...it was a Godsend when we discovered it. Our little Jack had such severe allergies she was tormented day and night with unrelieved itching...after trying endless other avenues to find relief for her we were to the point we thought we might have to have her put down for her to find relief. No matter what she ate before, she was always itching and scratching. She used to get so sore at times that she would actually bleed. Well, I want to tell you, My 11 year old thrives on this food, with no more digestive issues, and a beautiful white coat, and she loves eating it with vigor. My two year old American Pit Bull Terrier, another love of my life, also thrives on this food, has the most beautiful shiny coat ever, and people say all the time how beautiful her coat is. It was nice to have a maintenance food that all my dogs could eat. The last bag I purchased on August 4th smelled and looked different.
I am giving it 4 stars due to the increase in price and decrease in size. I used to buy it when it was a 40 pound bag for $38 or so.
The Canidae, however, is perfect for my multi dog household, which often includes dogs ranging from puppyhood to senior status. The ingredients are phenomenal and, as all reviewers have said, the food contains no corn, wheat or soy, all common allergens in dogs. My 3 dogs love this food and are thriving on it. Ingredients are high quality and Amazon price is better than anywhere I can get it except on sale.
I sent for it and weaned her off the bland diet. After only two days on this food her poops are solid small and firm.
Not only is it a healthy organic meal, I personally like what the Newman Foundation does with their profits (after taxes) from their products, $265 MILLION has been donated to various charities to date by their foundation. I buy Newman's Own products whenever I can (their spaghetti sauce is out-of-this-world..."Roasted Garlic"...YUM!). I may be the only person who has made the following mistake but, assuming you catch the Amazon sales, make sure you are ordering the bag size you want. I thought I was getting a good price on one order until the food came and it was the seven instead of twelve pound bag. Our four year old Elkhound loves this food, and it keeps her in great health. Amazon has the best price I've found for this food, and it's even better with Subscribe and Save.
