Logo Design For Pet and Animal Related Businesses

Americans love to own pets and according to the Humane Society almost 40% of American households have a dog and 33% a cat. However, the number of animals is much bigger and not all of them find a home. In addition, some get lost or run away. Most lost pets that end up in an animal shelter are not returned to their owners. There are almost 5,000 shelters in the U.S. and according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 60% of dogs and 70% of cats in the shelters are euthanized.

The pet industry can be divided into two area really. Firstly you have pet stores and vets who target the general population and secondly you have luxury pet supplies, gourmet pet food and services that only the upper middle class and the wealthy can afford.

Many theories advice that the animals sharp skill of awareness is a kind of sixth sense and this may have alerted them to the approaching of tsunami. It could even be something as simple as the sense of hearing the sound of approaching wave while it was far enough away to give them adequate time to get into the higher ground.

It has been believed that the animals are able to pick up the changing air pressure or on resulting vibrations as well. Even though many scientists have suspected that the animals had a sixth sense towards the natural disaster, it is always hard to confirm as it is not something cane be tested in a lab setting.

Only a small percent of household pets are pampered and their owners buy pet insurance. 15% of pets are bought from breeders and just 2% from pet shops. While pet owners that live in urban areas think of their animals as part of their families, owners who live in rural areas are not as concerned about their pets. They do not take them to the vet as often as urban owners do, as there are fewer veterinarians in rural areas.

Some pets are taken from the shelters or from neighbors or friends at low cost, and the money spent on their maintenance is not much. However, they are generally healthy. But unfortunately, too many pets are surrendered to shelters for various reasons.

However, pets do not always predict all the impending dangers. Some times they may not be able to. Its completely depends upon the specific signal that the impending disaster sends out before it starts. Few warning signals may be recognized by the animals and birds and few may not be. This would perhaps inspire the scientists to study the phenomena further. Someday, it will help to recognize the impending disaster before its starts which would save many of the human lives.
