Tips to Train Your Yorkie

By Dmitry Vasenyov

In fact, training a Yorkshire terrier could be a real challenge for a new owner. Training your puppy could be almost impossible except for the following keys that they will respond to. These keys could help owners with their new addition to the family.

It is necessary to mention that the Yorkshire terrier is loyal, high-spirited and affectionate breed. And while training they will behave like the other working breeds behave. Working dogs are named so because they have an instinctive desire to serve us. This means that they are rewarded in their spirit and emotion when we express pleasure.

Yorkies feel a type of reward when they obey, serve us and work. Some dog owners call this as a type of commitment. It is important for the Yorkie to sense your satisfaction in whatever way you choose to reward your puppy.

While training the Yorkshire terrier, the only thing that you have to remember about is consistency. While training your puppy to 'stay, down, come, heel, fetch' they expect you to let them know what you expect from them as well as give them certain task to do.

Breed specific earmarks for training Yorkshire terrier is that it is the best for the owner to be trainer if it is possible.

If you expect certain tasks from your dog, then you are almost guaranteed to be a well-adjusted and happy couple. When your Yorkie performs you, as trainer or owner you have to use a lot of happy, profuse 'good girl or boy' which will cause them to perform over and over again for that pat on the head and happy activity.

Remember that these working breeds are really smart. If your pet gets praises and performed, they remember and will do the same action expecting the same rewards. Yorkies tend to become more easily distracted and because of this you have to be circumspect about the circumstances under which you are training your puppy.
