Pet Memorial Plaques For All Creatures

By Sam Jones

Pet memorial plaques for cats are a loving way to remember your adored feline friend after she is gone. Cats can live to be far older than most dogs. Some cats can reach 17 to 20 years of age before passing and a loving tribute to their lives is a placard with their name or photo on display in your home will show others home much you cared for her.

Many animal owners will bury their beloved pets in their back or side yards to keep them close. In order to mark the graves, they will use a large stepping stone or some type of placard that could be engraved with a lovely sentiment about pets and love. This grave marker could also include the birth and death dates of the animal.

Many garden shops and pet stores sell different styles of do-it-yourself step stone kits. These kits allow the homeowner and animal owner to create a lasting tribute to the beloved friend. They typically come in a box that resembles a pizza box along with a bag of plaster or Pairs to mix with water. Owners of pets that passed away could add their own touches to the grave site marker such as gemstones, a photograph of their animal or when the plaster is nearly dry, they could take a stick and write the animals name in it.

Other types of placards might be constructed out of metal. These too could have an engraving of the dog's name, date of birth and date of passing on the front. Something made of metal would have to have a coating of rust proofing glaze painted over the entire placard to make sure the rain did not rust it if it were to hang outside.

Wooden signs are a nice way to mark the passing of a beloved family animal. They could be engraved with information about the animal and a carving or burned shadow of the type of animal they were. For example, if the dog was a German shepherd, they have a distinct outline and this would translate well onto a wooden sign.

Pet memorial plaques for dogs are a wonderful way to memorialize your beloved canine for life. They were a large part of your life for a long time and it is nice to have a daily reminder of their passing on a wall in the house or in the garden. If a stone is chosen as a placard, then as a grave marker would be an ideal use for it.
