How to Potty Train Your Yorkie

By Dmitry Vasenyov

Yorkshire terriers are great watch dogs. And if you are going to get one it is crucial to learn how to train your puppy to relieve themselves in the appropriate way. Of course, you do not want your puppy pooping all over your home.

Frankly speaking, the best time to start potty training is as soon as you introduce them to your home. In addition, remember that till the puppies have grown their bladders are not developed and thus they could not be in a position to hold it in. And so you may use the following tips when training your puppy to use the toilet. Primarily, it is necessary to take your puppy outside often - at least every hour.

And when you do this, try to take the puppy to the same area. If you want to train your puppy to poop on the pad, then you have to take it there as often as possible. It is a great idea to take your puppy to this area every hour or about so. That way Yorkie will remember where they need to poop next time.

When potty training your puppy you can take them to their specific area right after that have eaten or drunk something. As well you have to do this after you wake up in the morning, after a long rest or before the playtime. When potty training your dog, you have to use different commands like 'go potty' and repeat it till the puppy defecates.

It is crucial to use this command every time you want your puppy to use the pad and as a result Yorkie will connect this command with what you expect them to do. When your Yorkie successfully learns the lesson, you could be sure to pat it and give it a lot of attention.

During the first month or about so of you Yorkie training, you have to be ready that some accidents will happen. If you see that your puppy is about to make the mess in a house, just say 'stop' or 'no'. And after that take the puppy to the potty spot and repeat the previous steps.
