What Kinds of Bones Can I Give My Dog?

By Dirk Gruenberg

Spoiling one's dog can be quite a fun past time. Dogs bring so much joy and happiness into our lives, that it is hard to imagine life without them. This attitude leads many people to give their dogs treats, which is great. But there are also other things you can give your dog:

Some owners prefer to give their pets bones to keep them happy. Although there have been some questions about doing this. Everyone wants to make sure that their dog is happy and safe with the treats they have.

Over the years, a few voices came up doubting whether giving dogs bones to chew on is actually safe. So are they? Well, read on and learn what you need to know about bones.

Poultry bones and fish bones can, in fact, be extremely dangerous for dogs. So make sure never to give them to your beloved pet.

Furthermore, pork chop bones can be hazardous for your dog, too. The reason is that they are fairly sharp, and, hence, can do damage to your dog's stomach.

They can also do damage to his throat - so as you can see, you really want to stay away from them. As with anything you give your dog, do your research on bones like that too, before giving them to your pet

Shredded raw hide bones are quite safe to give to your dog. These types of treats are shredded and pressed together to form a bone.

These kinds of bones are fairly popular with most dogs. My dogs brighten up when they get to have one. Another sensible option would be raw beef bones. These, too, are fairly popular among our four-legged friends. They also have a good size that prevents choking.

Of course, it should not be a surprise that your dog's safety should be your number one priority. And so it goes without saying, that it is much better to be safe than sorry. So just keep that in mind with any bone you give your dog.
