A Pet Cat For Each and every Time

By Jose I. Silver

A friend of mine is a cat lover. She loves them so much that she made her home a refuge for cats. She allowed cats that looked unusual to mate. At present, she has about twelve cats dwelling in her place. Like a little house small enough for cats to stay in, she made it with the ramps, windows, and covered porches. There are also runways for cats and rooms using little shelves. If cats have beauty products, she had those as well. The cats also have their own sleeping tunnels and beds, only miniature though. She even films them and sends me a copy. One time, she caught on video her cats, the one sleeping being pounced by another who was such a nuisance making a huge disturbance in the room!

Miacas, a kind of specie that existed only 50 million years ago was supposed to be the source of the animals that we have now, particularly raccoons, dogs, bears and cats. In comparison to a weasel, they have claws that can be retracted if they will it.

Around 3500 B. C., Egyptians were treasuring domesticated wildcats as their pets. Egyptians commemorated their hunting abilities by molding art works of them. They also felt that the cat's eyes possess the sunlight. Cats were highly revered during the 1500 B.C. and it was fatal for any individual takes the life of a cat. When a person's much-loved pet cat passed away, the body was preserved and the pet owner had their eyebrows cut off to signify their mourning.

By the time it reached 1000 B.C., Phoenicians and Greek merchants brought cats to Europe and Asia. They continued to be revered for their hunting ability and skill in controlling the rodent population.

London, England held its first cat show in 1871, and established the first cat association in 1887. For cat lovers all over the place, it's all marked in history.

On one occasion, I had to do a job as my mother was left in the house with some ailment. My mom had a friend who said she could keep my mother company so that I could go where I needed to go. Mom and Lucy at that time were both over their senior years. By the time I was back from my walk, I saw them on each couch lying sound asleep. Lucy was sleeping like a log but sounded like a motor running because of her snores. Mom's cat was on her chest, staring at Lucy's mouth and nose. I think she was awed by what she observed and it enthralled her. The cat also went up and down as Lucy's chest went up and down when she breathed. I roused my mom from her slumber so that she could witness how amusing and priceless it was. When my mom's friend Lucy opened her eyes, she was looking directly into the eyes of a curious cat. Arising from a deep slumber, she thought she was hallucinating until she noticed that mom and I were laughing our hearts out. That nap always reminded them of the most heartwarming experience they had and they continued to talk about it even when they became older.

The cats have became a part of our family and having them has been gratifying, with lots of tenderness and calm moments. We are entertained and amused by their prying actions. Loving and caring them back aren't enough to make a happy feline that's why there are other items in the market that can make them feel relaxed and contented. Purrfection!
