Thoughts About Quality Cat Furniture

By Robert Baker

It can be made out of a variety of materials. Something that can be scratched over and over without completely eroding it is best. Quality cat furniture can come in almost any shape or size, depending on the kitty and his or her owner's desires.

Except during the night, when they seem the most playful, cats are heavy nappers. Find the sunniest spot in the house, and there you will likely find your kitty either curled up in a ball or stretched out in full body lounge mode, soaking in the warmth. Consider a design that can withstand the sun without fading it. Cats are adaptable and can sleep almost anywhere, but my bet is they prefer something soft and comfortable. A fuzzy blanket type material would be nice. Or something smooth that won't be so hard to keep free of the cat hair might be preferable.

Cats love to pounce and chase and flail at almost anything that moves within their range of vision. So think about incorporating that into his or her furniture. Affix a bendable plastic stick with a small toy attached to the end, for example. Just make sure it's not something that can be torn off easily.

A multi-storied structure would satisfy your cat's love of climbing. Maybe an enclosed area would be good, so he or she can hide. A level for sleeping would be great. And of course the scratching and climbing element is key. It can be designed is any number of ways.

Depending on the cat's owners, the color scheme might make a difference. The structure, if it's kept inside the house, would be best to blend in nicely with the rest of the home's decor. So a changeable choice of fabrics would make the piece adapt to a variety of settings. The flexibility would also make it appealing to people who like to remodel and redesign their space more often.

You have many choices when it comes to quality cat furniture. Look online or head over to your local pet shop. If you don't find the piece that suits you and your cat's needs you might even consider building your own.
