The average person spends 300 dollars on a chicken hen house, but you can make one yourself for a lot cheaper. Depending on how many birds you want in your chicken coop, you may want to rethink how large you want the hen house. You also have the option of getting a portable hen house that has wheels where you can move it around when you want it to go.

They will just leave the droppings of the chickens there to run as fertilizer and move on to the next area. When building your chicken coop, know that the design has just to be safe and the way it looks is up to you. Get touched up on the basics on how to build chicken coops just to get a background on what to expect.

All the materials you need to build a chicken coop can be bought at your hardware store for mightily cheap. Chances are that you can take a camping trailer too and make that into your chicken coop. If you have the skill and know how, you will not need a lot of materials. Have at least a few nest boxes and allocate at least one and a half nest boxes for each chicken. Remember that the birds need to be comfortable and have plenty of room. Keep thing in a cozy nest and they will lay more eggs than you can imagine. Take your time to learn the manners on your coop and get started on building it.

If you live in an area with a lot of coyotes, you need to protect the birds from them. Weasels may be your worse enemy because they will try to have your chickens for dinner. If you just want a few birds, take a look at this small chicken coop plan. Take the extra step to plan every step of your chicken coop process so that you can have a perfect chicken coop. You should know your area and what it is prone to like red tailed hawks or even worse bears. You will need a fence around your general area as like a first line of defense.
