What You Have to Know When Renting With Dogs

By Dirk Gruenberg

Renting with a four-legged friend is not always easy. Of course, both you and your dog have to be comfortable and feel welcome in your new home. And this, naturally, means that your future landlord and future neighbors have to be okay with you moving in.

There are many things to think about when you are planning to rent a place with your dog or dogs. Here are some tips on what you can do to ensure that you find the perfect home for you and your pet.

It goes without saying that the most important aspect is finding a home that is pet friendly. This, of course, should be your number one concern.

If you know for sure that pets are not allowed, don't even bother checking out the apartment. I know that kind of seems like common sense, but I also know that some people do not follow this advice - instead, they hope to work things out later.

Once you found something, make an appointment with the owner of the place. This appointment will allow you to ask all your questions regarding the place you plan to rent. Make sure there is enough space so that your pet can move around freely.

Only if you are fully satisfied should you proceed. In this case, ask your landlord whether he would like to have some references about you and your dog.

You have to establish that you are a responsible pet owner by providing vaccination certificates or any obedience training that your dog has.

You can also get a recommendation from your vet to help establish the fact that you and your dog are fit to live in an apartment.

To sum up, if you follow this advice, you are will have a significant advantage over others. And you will also be able to find a place that will make you truly happy. After all, you guys should not have to settle for anything less then you and your little companion deserve.
