Installing an Electric Fence in an Apposite Manner

By Joe Maldonado

Well, you may have heard about the installation process of an electric fence but maybe confused about the main steps and precautions involved in this type of fencing. This article would definitely solve your glitches to a certain extent and would also boost up your confidence level as well.

First of all make yourself understand that it's not a too difficult job and even an average Joe is able to understand the step by step installation process easily. All you need to have are few tools and materials to keep the things straight. The main items comprise of a hammer, screwdrivers set, pliers, grounding system, voltage tester, insulation wrap and a handful of few relevant items as written in the manual.

Now you have to move on searching for a safe heaven for your electric fence. The area must also be safely protected from the weather disasters. If you can't find the safe area then you should stretch your legs a bit to make housing for the fence controller. You would witness the instructions on the manual for installing options of fence controller. Try to comply with the written guidelines.

Then install the grounding system and keep it at a prescribed distance from the fence controller you installed earlier. The normal prescribed distance is about 20 feet and you can confirm it from the manual. The third step involves the safe installation of fence posts around the area. Their distance could range from 25 to 75 feet from each other. For a better security, it is suggested to install the more frequent post planting. You would accomplish this task by using post-hole digger.

Now you would initiate the simple process of installing the wiring. You should initiate this process from that post which is particularly away from the fence controller. The connections must not be very loose as it would tend to fail the whole process. You should also apply the insulation in order to lessen the corrosion. In order to keep the small animals away from the fence, you need to plant the wires closely at fence bottom.

Almost the entire process of planting the electric fence is completed and now you just have to recheck each step you did above to rectify any potential error. After that attach the electric fence controller and hook up the fence. A welcoming flashing light would be seen which confirms that everything is working in OK manner.

The last but not the least step is to check the voltage of the current supplied to the fence by using the voltage meter. The voltage meter would confirm you about apposite electrification in the fence at the end. Now your fence is installed correctly and no need to bother about the strangers or wild animals as your fence would throw away all of them by giving them a voltage sting. Enjoy your working inside as the electric fence is there to keep your peace of mind in one piece.
