Obstacles For Vets To Avoid When Purchasing Reception Furnishing

By Ken Rand

When considering a refit or fitting out a new practice, the time and effort involved in planning the appearance of the entrance and Reception is well spent.

Having offered reception furniture solutions for some time, we find that the same questions need to be asked and have rarely been sorted in advance of the enquiry. To assist in obtaining a good design and a competitive quotation it is worth noting the following:

Number of staff to be seated at the desk Dimensions of the room Positioning of the desk Location of entrances and exits Are retail goods or other items to be displayed Is visitor seating to be provided Whether there is a requirement for Disabled access (DDA) Key colours, materials and finishes required Is the desk to be straight or shaped and if so angled or curved.

Paying careful attention to gathering this information can have a considerable effect on the time to prepare a design and costing.

It is often anticipated that the reception desk will require individual design and special manufacture.

Individually produced desks from a standard format (sometimes called modular) are usually the best answer.

To produce a fine quality Custom Reception desks to suit any requirement at competitive cost, machines are set to modular production standards. By combining bespoke and modular the quality is consistently first class.

Furniture in a Veterinary Reception must provide for ease of cleaning. It is essential for many of the materials used to be non absorbent to ensure for durability and hygiene. All these considerations must be accounted for at the design stages.

Selection of the right finishes, space planning, lighting design, electrical and IT provisions all need to work together with seating and waiting furniture to provide the Veterinary practice reception of quality.
